Aspherical lenses are best suited for applications where spherical aberration needs to be minimized. Spherical aberration is inherent in the basic spherical surface characteristic to most of the common lenses. The aspherical lens mitigates it by introducing complex surface profiles, which are not portions of a sphere. These lenses are often the best single element solution for collimating and focusing narrow beams. Our precision grade aspherical lenses are manufactured from UV grade fused silica while N-BK7 and N-LAH64 or other materials are also available on request. All the lenses can be coated with anti reflective (AR) coatings for required wavelengths. Contact us if our standard lenses do not fit into your optical design – we can produce customized lenses according to your technical drawings and offer design services as well.
