Lutetium Yttrium Orthosilicate (Lu₂SiO₅:Ce) is a relatively new scintillator crystal and it is well known as a fast, mechanically strong and chemically resistant material. Ce:LYSO crystals have various great features, such as fast decay time, high light output, great mechanical resistance and stability, high density and anti-radiation hardness. That makes these crystals appliable for many areas, such as tomography systems (PET), medical XCT, high energy physics, radiation detection, oil well logging, security scanning and gamma spectroscopy.
