Zinc-germanium diphosphide (ZnGeP2, ZGP) crystals are considered as "standard" of mid-IR nonlinear crystals due to unique properties. They have excellent nonlinearity (d36 = 75 pm/[email protected],6 μm) and thermal conductivity (36 W/[email protected]||c, 35 W/[email protected]⊥c) including relatively high laser induced damage threshold. ZGP crystals can succesfully be implemented in high-power mid-IR harmonic generators, difference frequency generators and optical parametric oscillators due its broad useful transmission range (2 μm - 12 μm).
